Raised in Long Beach, California, Zachary Ates earned a Bachelor’s degree in Animation from the Savannah College of Art and Design, graduating with high honors. While at SCAD, Zachary directed and produced the animated short film Monkey Thief, which received Best Student Short at the Short to the Point Film Festival and Best Animated Short at the Sarasota Film Festival, in addition to being selected for ten other film festivals.
With more than seven years of professional experience in the film industry, Zachary has worked with leading studios including MPC Film, Digital Domain, Marvel, Paramount, Disney, Hulu, and now Cherokee Film Studios. Their work spans both feature films and episodic productions, including Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Prey, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, Secret Invasion, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Madame Web, and Let’s Talk Cherokee Season 10.
Outside of work, Zachary is a proud dog and cat parent to Sequoia, Scoob, and HoneyBee. When not creating 2D digital illustrations or watching horror and animated films, Zachary can often be found planning for next Halloween—their favorite holiday—or taking their pets on outdoor adventures and hikes.
