Maggie Cunningham (Pawnee Nation) is the Film Commissioner for Cherokee Film where she leads a team promoting the diverse locations, certified soundstages, virtual production, and skilled Native talent & crew within the film-ready Cherokee Nation.
Before her time at Cherokee Film Commission, Maggie was a producer for the regional Heartland Emmy® Award-winning docuseries, “Osiyo, Voices of the Cherokee People” with Cherokee Film Productions. She has also spent a portion of her career in cultural heritage working as an archivist and NAGPRA coordinator serving her tribal nation across national museums. Maggie is committed to serving and promoting authentic Native representation across all fields in film, television, and media and knows Native-led stories are the most impactful way to effect change.
