Colby Luper is a Heartland Regional Emmy®-winning producer and director.

Raised in the Cherokee Nation capital of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, Colby grew up immersed in Cherokee art and culture and displayed an interest in media and creative storytelling from a young age. Whether he was acting in school theatre productions, producing amateur short films with friends or playing in a rock band, his time was constantly filled with creative endeavors. While attending Northeastern State University in 2019, Colby interned with Cherokee Film Productions, co-producing a few segments for the docu-series “Osiyo, Voices of the Cherokee People,” and aiding with various aspects of production. This began a professional career in film that includes work on commercials, documentaries, and both short and feature-length narrative films.

After exploring the industry for a time, Colby returned to Cherokee Film Productions in 2021 as a full-time Producer. Sharing the stories of his fellow tribal citizens has proven to be a powerful calling for Colby, and he strives to uplift his community and share their stories in ways that are artful and, most importantly, authentic. Colby earned his Bachelor of Arts in Media Studies – multimedia production with a minor in theatre from Northeastern State University.

When not working, he spends his time creating graphic art and playing loud rock music. He currently resides in Tulsa with his wife, Erica.
